Were the Infinity Stones always the size they are now?

Updated: Jun 5, 2020

We all know that the infinity stones are small enough that a human hand could hold all of them (if they have the power to do so, but that was just to help visualise the size of them).

But, what if they weren't always that size. We know that the Infinity Stone hold the Universe together, protect it from dark forces and that they existed before the big bang as 6 singularities that were forged into concentrated ingots which we now know as the Infinity Stones.

There have been 2 instances within the Marvel Cinematic Universe that gives a hint to the Infinity Stones being a much larger size. The first was during the Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 1 when the Collector is informing the Guardians on where the Infinity Stones came from. He showed the Guardians the destruction the stones can cause when in the wrong hands.

From a first glance it just seems like a powerful being, Eson the Searcher, using the Infinity Stone.

Then in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2, Gamora and Nebula find a pile of bones,

the outline of the structure that the bones cover looks extremely similar to the Eye of Agamotto.

The reason I believe that the stones were at a much larger scale far in the past as for a being of such size, Eson the Searcher, would be weird for them to pick up something that would be like an ant to us.

My theory is that the stones, over time, have worn down in size the more that they are used causing the power they have over protecting the Universe itself weaker and weaker and now that they are gone there is nothing stopping dark forces from trying to take over, just like Dormammu tried but he was stopped by the time stone.

Hope you like this theory and it is the first of many many more to come. Feel free to comment on what you think of this theory.
